In a personal injury case, our economic experts evaluate data pertaining
to a particular case then calculate measurable damages based on reliable
and relevant principles and methods.

Data Gathering

To prepare an accurate report, our experts gather data and information about the injured party.  The necessary information includes, but is not limited to, the type of damages that exist, the venue for the case, date of birth, date of injury, nature and extent of injury, physical, psychological and vocational prognoses, additional time off for surgery, therapy, rehabilitation, vocational training, prospective career path before and after the injury, wages and benefits at the time of the injury, current wages and benefits, projected wages and benefits, the injured person's ability to perform household services, work history as well as past and on-going medical care.

Assumptions

Based on the data and information gathered, our expert will make several assumptions influencing the outcome of the report.  Basic assumptions include career and life expectancy of the injured worker, the ability to return to work, length of time required before returning to work, the wage and benefits at the time of injury and the wage and benefits received at a new job.  In some cases, future medical costs may also be calculated.

Report and Opinions

The expert may be asked to develop a report, respond to an opposing expert's report, attend depositions, review deposition transcripts, give deposition, and/or provide testimony at trial.

In preparing a report, the expert will rely on the data gathered and assumptions made in order to calculate the damages incurred by an injured party.  Depending on the extent of the injury, the report may calculate lost earning capacity, lost household services, lost active leisure, future medical services and care as shown in a life care plan, as well as other appropriate economic losses.  The calculations and opinions in the resulting report will comply with the standards set by relevant state and/or federal regulations, court decisions, and rulings.  The expert's final opinion will be fair and relevant and will benefit the trier of fact in his/her efforts to arrive at a fair decision.
